Park in the public parking on Stockyard Blvd. $10 to park all day. Look for the signs with the QR code to pay by phone. They have a cat walk that you will use to cross over the animal pens and come in behind the museum. Quick walk and you get a chance to see the longhorns chilling below. Accessibility wise, this is NOT the parking if you cannot navigate 5 or 6 stairs to get up to the catwalk.
The herd consists of some truly amazing specimens! Those horns are much longer than you'd imagine. They will generally have one or two of them saddled up for photos with the kids for free. Donations and tips are highly recommended!! Help feed the herd!
I’m a Fort Worth local and this was still very fun to see. The cattle drive is daily and goes down the main road of the Stock Yards, so you can see it by just standing on the curb. The horses are friendly enough to pet (just ask the cowboy or cowgirl first and they’ll guide you in petting). Highly recommend bringing family from out of town to this - very fun!
Figure out your parking in advance.
They close off the street- ergo parking garage about 30 minutes before the cattle walk.
Morning and afternoon times.
Double check on times before you go.
The herd was small, but still beautiful.
This is such a privilege to witness.
They don’t want you to sit down on the curb, or lean down to take photos.
About 10 minutes before- a brief explanation with some history and rules is presented.
Well done.
The herd was smaller than I expected, but was still fun. If you like history this is a Must.
The museum was very interesting & I thought they did a great job of showing all the different cultures affected by the era of the cowboy.
We go and watch the daily cattle drive every time we're in Ft. Worth. It never gets old to see a glimpse of the old west when those longhorn cattle are being herded down the street. Highly, highly recommend going to see this if you're in the area!
Take your time to go to the museum across the street only $2 so cool
To experience the real Texas and the longhorns, visited this place. There are multiple parking lots available near by this location. The long horns are exhibited for almost 30 mins and taken back to their sheds.
It’s a great experience, to visit and stand along with many people, cheering and hooting .
Want the true Texas feel like a Texan a wonderful experience and they have two times and start on time. Small petting zoo and a traveling maze in the area too. The shopping offers great shade and very unique items in sure you won't see anywhere else. Many Cowboys 🐂 Cowboy shops and more.
There are also photo ops on the bulls and horses. I parked in the free parking but be prepared to pay for everything. Not budget friendly. $$$$
